Southwestern and DePauw earn NCAA bid; SCAC has two qualify as Individuals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Southwestern University, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2009 Division III Women's Golf Championship. DePauw University, which finished second at the conference championship, earned an at-large berth in the tournament. Centre's Emily Bachert and Rhodes' Stephanie Mingos also qualified for the NCAA tournament as individuals.

The Pirates, who earned thier third straight SCAC championship, are in the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive year. Last season Southwestern finished third out of 20 teams at the NCAA Championship.

DePauw is in the NCAA tournament for the eighth consecutive year. Last season the Tigers finished one spot ahead of Southwestern at second in the NCAA Championship. That marked DePauw's second straight second place finish.

The championships will be held May 13-16, at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The championships will be hosted by Methodist University.
