DePauw Tigers earn 11th straight trip to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The DePauw University Tigers, 21-3 and champions of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships. The SCAC also had three individuals qualify for the singles/doubles individiual championships.

The Tigers will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to square off against Grinnell College (17-6) of the Midwest Conference. This will mark the first-ever meeting between an SCAC team and a team from the MWC.

Currently ranked 12th in the nation, DePauw will makes its 15th overall appearance in the NCAA Championship. DePauw has an 8-10 record in NCAA play since joining the SCAC in 1998-99. Last year DePauw advanced to the regional finals before falling to Washington-St. Louis, 6-0.

Trinity's Max Frey, the 2009 SCAC Player-of-the-Year, qualified for the singles championship. Teammates Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory Kowal qualified for the doubles championship. DePauw's Scott Swanson was selected as an alternate in the singles championship from out of the Central region.
