Colonels win second SCAC Championship in three years; edge Southwestern 72-67

CONWAY, Ark. - Centre senior guard Kris Bentley tied an SCAC Tournament single-game record with eight three pointers and added 31 points as the Colonels won its second SCAC Tournament championship with a 72-67 win over the Southwestern University Pirates. Box Score

Bentley's 31 points were just three shy from tying Jon Query's (2003) and Edrick Montgomery's (2006) record of 34 while his eight three-pointers tied current assistant coach and former teammate Matt Nestheide's 2007 mark. Bentley finished 8-of-14 from beyond the arc (57.1 percent) and added seven points from the free throw line. Centre's T.C. Thomason and Danny Noll added 16 and 11 points respectively for the 23-4 Colonels.

Southwestern was once again paced by junior guard Anthony Cox. Cox finished the day with 16 points, seven assists, four rebounds and shot 7-for-12 from the floor. Teammate Andrew McDonald scored a team-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.

All-Tournament team honors went to Hendrix's Andrew King, Southwestern's Andrew McDonald, Southwestern's Anthony Cox, Centre's Kris Bentley and Centre's Danny Noll. Noll was also honored as Tournament MVP.
