Trinity University Wins Third Consecutive SCAC Men's Track & Field Title

SEWANEE, Tenn. - For the third consecutive year, the Trinity University men were crowned SCAC Men's Track and Field champions, earning the 2009 title Saturday on the campus of The University of the South. Official website

The Texas Tigers finished with 198 points, 26 more than second-place Centre College who had 172 points. Rhodes College finished third with 134 points, followed by DePauw University with 98, Sewanee-The University of the South with 68, Colorado College with 52.5, Hendrix College with 26.5, Southwestern University with 18 and Oglethorpe University with six.

Trinity's Todd Wildman was named the SCAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Year. The senior from Dallas, Texas, finished first in the long jump, the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles and took second in the high jump. He set new SCAC championship meet records in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.80) and the 400-meter hurdles (52.36).

Other Trinity men who set new SCAC championship records included Chass Armstrong, who finished in a record time of 3:55.46 in the men's 1,500 meters and Zach Brush, who set a new standard in the 800 meters with a finishing time of 1:54.65. Chris Baer launched the javelin to a new SCAC meet distance of 198 feet, eight inches.

For the two day event, 14 SCAC men's and women's meet records fell.
