Oglethorpe earns ninth consecutive NCAA bid; Centre's Morris qualifies as Individual

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Oglethorpe University men's golf team earned its ninth consecutive NCAA Championship bid and the program's 10th overall bid in 2009. The Stormy Petrels won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship April 26. In addition to the Oglethorpe men, Centre College sophomore Chris Morris qualified for the tournament as an individual.

The Stormy Petrels earned its 10 overall NCAA appearance. Last year Oglethorpe finished sixth out of 23 teams at the NCAA Championship tournament. Oglethorpe also claimed its eigtht SCAC championship in 2009.

Morris will make his first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championsip and becomes the SCAC's first men's individual qualifier since 2006 when Sewanee's Jerre Maynor accomplished that feat.

The championships will be held May 13-16, at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The championships will be hosted by Methodist University.
