SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity University starting pitcher Jordan Arce threw her second complete game shut out of the day in snapping top-seeded Texas Lutheran University's 16-game SCAC tournament winning streak as the Tigers recorded their second consecutive 1-0 victory in second round play at the 2023 SCAC Softball Championship. Marina Delaluna's run-scoring double down the left field line proved to be the difference as Trinity advanced to the winner's bracket championship game on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arce scattered just five hits and struck out four Bulldogs while pushing the Tigers to within one win for playing for the SCAC championship on Sunday.
- Texas Lutheran theatened to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs had runners on second and third with two outs after a Caelee Clark double. Arce, however, struck out the next batter to end the threat.
- The bottom of the seventh saw TLU put the tying run on second base with two outs. Once again, Arce wiggled her way out of the jam by inducing a game-ending pop out.
