MARI PRAZAK OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior libero from Fort Worth, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 20 through Sunday, September 26. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 4)
Prazak paced Austin College defensively as the 'Roos won all three of their matches last week to improve to 11-1 on the year, averaging 5.42 digs-per-set and notching 20 or more digs in two of the team's three matches. The ‘Roos start of 11-1 through 12 games is the best since Austin College opened the 2010 season 12-0 through the opening 12 matches.
Prazak had a high of 26 digs against Howard Payne, and wrapped up the weekend with 22 against Dallas. She also added 10 assists and seven service aces in the three matches.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior libero Peyton Hummel of Colorado College averaged 4.40 digs per set to help CC post a 2-1 record last week. In the four-set victory over No. 18 Southwestern, Hummel recorded a season-best 16 digs. She also had 15 in the sweep of Schreiner. Senior outside hitter Ellise Anable of Dallas averaged 2.60 digs per set and added one block to help the Crusaders post a 1-2 record last week. Senior defensive specialist Elora Reyes of Schreiner recorded 46 digs, averaging 4.18 digs per set last week to lead the Mountaineers. Junior middle blocker Riley Brantley of Southwestern produced her biggest game against the toughest opponent so far this season, setting the block with three block assists and a solo block against No. 4 Colorado College. She finished the week with 9 total blocks, 8 of which were block assists, averaging 0.82 blocks per set. Senior libero Lexi Morris of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 49 digs last week, averaging 4.90 digs per set. Morris now leads the SCAC with 283 total digs on the year. Senior outside hitter Avery Tuggle of Trinity averaged 5.67 digs/set for a team-best 17 digs total on top of three blocks and 10 kills on a .348 hitting percentage to complete a well-balanced performance in the Tigers' defeated No. 4 Colorado College, the third sweep of a nationally-ranked team for Trinity this season and the highlight of an undefeated week .
