SAMMI THIELE OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior from Keller, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Monday, November 13 to Sunday, November 19. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 6)

Thiele had a phenomenal meet at the 2023 Trinity Tiger Invitational, posting three NCAA DIII 'B' cut times as well as three team records in the 200 IM (2:05.39), 100 back (55.35) and 200 back (2:01.39). Thiele broke her own SCAC 100 backstroke record plus established team records in the 100 fly (58.83) and 100 free (53.06). Her times also established new Alamo Heights pool records in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Neely Burns of Trinity won two individual events and earned two individual NCAA 'B' cuts at this weekend's Tiger Invitational. She won the 500 freestyle in a 'B' cut time of 4:59.52, 11 seconds ahead of the field. Burns was also first to the wall in the 200 free with a best time of 1:52.49. She wrapped up her weekend with a second place 200 back, in a 'B' cut time of 2:02.18. Both her 500 free and 200 back are second in Trinity history. Neely also contributed relay splits of 29.76 and 1:03.64 in the 50 and 100 breaststroke and 51.61 in the 100 freestyle. Sophomore Alexis Lee of Colorado College swam to several season bests at the 10-team Wabash Gail Pebworth Invitational. After slipping on the start, Lee powered back to take second in the 200 back (2:05.56). She was also fourth in both the 100 back (59.01) and 200 IM (2:10.98). Lee also swam CC's fastest splits on the 400 and 800 free relays. Sophomore Elise Samples of Southwestern helped the 200 free relay place third in 1:39.04 and the 400 medley relay take sixth (4:10.99) at the Trinity Tiger Invitational. She placed third for the 200 IM (2:10.74) to wrap up Day 1, and came back on Day 2 to get third in the 100 back (58.45). Lastly, she took fourth in the 200 bacl (2:06.71), and led things off for a fourth place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:38.65. Sophomore Jessie Wright of University of the Ozarks set a new school record in the 200 IM (2:20.13), which was good for an 11th place finish at the Delta State Thanksgiving Invitational. She also placed eighth in the 400 IM (5:01.97), 100 back (1:05.69), and 200 back (2:18.79), setting personal bests in both the 400 IM and 100 back. First-year Kelsy Elgar of St. Thomas competed in the 100 back consolation finals at the Trinity Tiger Invitational where she recorded a time of 1:04.33 and finished in fourth place.
