LOUIS CATCHPOLE OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior forward from Friendswood, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 4th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 1)
Catchpole got his junior campaign off to a blazing start, leading Austin College to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2017. Catchpole scored four times, getting a game-winner in a road match against East Texas Baptist and adding a hat trick in a 5-2 win over LeTourneau. Catchpole's hat trick is the first for an Austin College player since 2017.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Ron Masti of Centenary scored the equalizer in the Gents’ non-conference contest against McMurry at home on Sunday. Mastri found the back of the net in the 81st minute for his first goal of the season and seventh in his career. Sophomore midfielder Oliver Ramirez of Colorado College score the lone goal for the Tigers in CC’s 2-1 opening season loss to Pacific Lutheran, then scored the opening tally in the 4-1 victory over Lake Forest last Sunday. Ramirez leads the Tigers with two goals and has scored on both of his shots this season. Sophomore midfielder Alex Melgoza of Dallas scored a goal and added an assists in the Crusaders’ 2-2 draw against ETBU Monday night. Senior forward Skyler Frey of Southwestern had a strong opening weekend for the Pirates, scoring the game-winner in last Friday’s 3-0 win over Willamette then followed up that performance with an assist in a 2-2 draw against Elmhurst on Sunday. Frey leads Southwestern with three points on one goal and one assist this season. Senior forward Taty Aleman of St. Thomas was outstanding last weekend leading the Celts to a pair of key wins over Pomona-Pitzer and Willamette. Aleman scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the opener and then rang home his second game-winner of the weekend against Willamette. His two-goal performance in the opener marked his fifth multigoal game in his career. Junior midfielder Preston Huff of Texas Lutheran played a major role in the Bulldogs 2-0 weekend in California, recording an assist on the game winner against Occidental and scoring the game winner against Cal Lutheran on Sunday. Senior midfielder Chen Adjei of Trinity helped lift the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 weekend with a goal and an assist, including the game-winner in TU’s come from behind victory against Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday.
