LAUREN OROZCO OF AUSTIN COLLEGEa first-year outfielder from Carrollton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 7 through Sunday, March 13. SCAC Softball Release - Week 6

Orozco had a big week for Austin College as the 'Roos went 3-2, including a three-game sweep over SCAC foe Centenary last weekend. Orozco batted .500, going 9-for-18 at the plate with a .550 on-base percentage and a 1.056 slugging percentage. She smashed three home runs with a double, seven RBI, and seven runs scored. In the conference sweep of the Ladies, Orozco hit .615, scored five runs and stole one base to lead the ‘Roos to their first SCAC conference series win since 2016 and first conference series sweep since 2013.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year outfielder Vivian Rivero of Centenary had a big weekend for the Ladies in a three-game SCAC road series at Austin College. The rookie hit an impressive 7-for-13 (.538) in the series with six RBI, her first-career home run, a pair of doubles, and a run scored. She posted a pair of three-hit games and two games with at least two RBI. Senior infielder Maddie Mefford of Southwestern hit .467 (7-for-15) in five games last week, including two doubles, two runs, and one RBI as the Pirates posted a 3-2 record. Sophomore utility player Mallarie Munson of St. Thomas went 5-for-8 at the plate last weekend for the Celts in a series sweep over SCAC opponent Dallas. Munson accounted for four runs scored, four RBI, two walks, one triple and a slugging percentage of .875. Senior outfielder Kelly Jurden of Texas Lutheran hit .385 last week with 13 stolen bases, seven walks, five runs scored, and one RBI as the Bulldogs posted a perfect 5-0 record including a sweep of Schreiner. Jurden also became the SCAC’s all-time leader in hits during a doubleheader sweep of Case Western. Sophomore third basemen Marina Delaluna of Trinity played a pivotal role in helping the Tigers win four games last week. Delaluna hit .417 (5-for-12) with one double, one triple, three runs scored, and six RBI. She stepped into the box with the bases loaded and cleared the bases to help put the Tigers in front. In game two of the Concordia series, Delaluna brought in two runs and scored two runs to lift Trinity to a 6-1 win.
