SAMANTHA THIELE OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a freshman from Keller, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24.
Thiele earned four victories last weekend to help lead the Austin College ‘Roos to a double dual meet victory over Centenary and McMurry. Individually, Thiele touched first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.35), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.91) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.65). Thiele also swam a leg on the winning 200-medley relay that hit the wall in 1:59.51.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Sarah Harrison of Centenary delivered three top-two finishes last weekend at the Austin College Double Dual meet for the Ladies. Harrison won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a winning time of 19:36.01 and then placed second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.16) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:47.03). Junior Kristina Sullivan of McMurry turned in a pair of top-two finishes at the Austin College Double Dual meet last weekend. Sullivan won the 500-yard freestyle, hitting the wall in 5:45.21 and then finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:38.85. Sophomore Rosie Wade of Ozarks posted two individual victories for the Eagles in a dual meet victory against Williams Baptist last weekend. Wade won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.70 and hit the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.25. She also swam a leg on the winning 200-free relay team.
