Max Danielsen, Austin College, Baseball - Character & Community

MAX DANIELSEN OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior pitcher/first baseman on the baseball team from League City, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning October 11.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Danielsen has been giving back to his community for years, since before he ever set foot on the Austin College campus. He does most of his work giving back with the sport his loves, and continues to play for the ‘Roos: baseball.

A junior from Dallas, Danielsen has worked with a number of charitable and community groups over the years, but he’s become most passionate about working with kids as a youth coach for the 13U Dallas Tigers, in addition to coaching soon-to-be college athletes with the 17U Fort Worth Texans.

Through working with both of those programs, Danielsen has seen his love of the game grow even more as he’s been able to pass it along to a new generation, teaching them the game and the organization and discipline that comes with it. From 2016 to 2019, he also pursued his passion of helping people learn and play the game he loves through the Buddy League, which is an organization in Garland, Texas that enables people of all ages with disabilities to play baseball.

Danielsen is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Austin College, and a three-year letter-winner for the ‘Roo baseball team, working out of the bullpen as a reliever. He’s also done work with Habitat for Humanity, as well as Habitat for Humanity ReStore, not to mention working with Austin College’s annual Great Day of Service. In 2018 and 2019, he also worked with the Eucharistic Ministry at his high school, Bishop Lynch, in Dallas.

The third-year baseball player is also an aspiring sports broadcaster, and has been since he was 14-years-old. Danielsen has become a staple of Austin College men’s and women’s basketball broadcasts, calling the games for the ‘Roos in each of his first two seasons for home contests, and has also gotten his feet wet with professional play-by-play with the Dallas Skyline, a professional club and member of The Basketball League, working out of Richardson, Texas.

Danielsen continues to pursue both his love of coaching and broadcasting as he enters his junior year, with a growing desire to work with kids at the youth level as a coach while also chasing his dream of calling games in the broadcast booth.
