JONATHAN MILLER OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior from Beaumont, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition from Wednesday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 29. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 6)
At the Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin, UST's Miller shot a 2-over-par 218 over three rounds to win the individual event by six strokes and lead the Celts to a first-place finish at the Linda Lowery Invitational hosted by Concordia (Texas). The senior carded rounds of 75, 69, and 74 to blow away the 42-player field.
Junior Zhao Yung Gu of Schreiner fired rounds of 78-74-74 to card a 226 (+10), good enough for a fourth-place finish among individuals at the Linda Lowery Invitational. His third-round 74 was tied with tournament medalist Jonathan Miller of St. Thomas for the low round of the day.
With Miller leading the way with a 3-under-par 69 in Sunday's second round, the Celts as a team shot 7-over-par 295 during the round, the lowest team score for a single round for any of the seven teams at the event.
