LINDSEY LONGUET OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior pitcher from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
Longuet was spectacular in the circle for the Celts last weekend as St. Thomas swept Dallas in a three-game series. She went 2-0 with two complete game shutouts, including a no-hitter in the Celts, 8-0, win last Friday to close out the series. In 13 total innings of work, Longuet struck out 16 batters, allowed just two hits and posted a 0.00 ERA.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Hailee Leger of Centenary led the Ladies to their first SCAC series win over Southwestern in program history last weekend. Leger picked up both wins in the circle for Centenary, tossing a pair of complete game shutouts with six total strikeouts to secure the series victory for the Ladies. Leger scattered just eight hits over the course of 14 innings and walked just three batters. Of her 148 pitches combined in the two outings, 104 of them were for strikes. Freshman Sydney Ouellette of Texas Lutheran of recorded three wins in three wins and a save as the Bulldogs posted a 6-0 week. Ouellette tossed a two-hitter against Trinity on March 30. She finished the week with a one-hitter against Schreiner on April 2. In between, she pitched five innings in relief and notched a win over Schreiner on April 1. On the same day, she appeared in the second game and produced a save. For the week, she struck out eight, walked just two, and her ERA was 1.26. Junior Cat Patterson of Trinity led the Tiger softball team to a 3-2 record in SCAC play last week, including a three-game weekend series sweep at Austin College. Patterson appeared in four of the team's five games over the week, tallying 12.2 total innings and recording a team-leading 2.21 ERA. The highlight of her week was a one-hit shutout in game two of the Austin College series. After allowing a leadoff single, Patterson retired 15 consecutive batters to close out the run-rule victory.
