SEGUIN, Texas - A sac fly from Jaelyn Simmons in the bottom of the seventh gave third-seeded St. Thomas a 3-2 walk-off victory over fifth-seeded Centenary in an elimination game on day two of the 2024 SCAC Softball Championship on Saturday afternoon. HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third, Simmons delivered a one-out sac fly to right field that plated the winning run for the defending tournament champion Celts.
- Centenary jumped out to a 2-0 lead through four innings on RBI singles from Mallory Stout and Mackenzie Cox in the first and fourth innings, respectively.
- St. Thomas came back and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on an error and a pinch hit RBI double from Grace Torres. That set the stage for Simmons' herocis in the bottom of the seventh.
