NICK ANDERSON, UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore guard from League City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 18 through Thursday, December 21.  SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 7)

Anderson pushed the Celts to a 10-2 record this season after collecting victories at home over Washington and Lee, and Luther this week. He averaged 18.0 points per game on and impressive 59.1 percent shooting (13-for-22), highlighted by 22 points in the win over Luther. His 22-point effort was fueled by connecting on 80 percent from the field (8-of-10) and 75 percent from beyond the arc (6-of-8). Against W&L he poured in 14 points on 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from the field, including 2-for-5 from beyond the arc. In addition, Anderson added 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in the two non-conference victories prior to the Holiday Break.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior guard Seth Thomas of Centenary led the Celts with 18 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals in a victory over Louisiana Christian last Tuesday. Thomas connected on 37.5 percent from the field (3-of-8), and an outstanding 75 percent from the charity stripe (12-of-16). Junior guard Semaj Edwards of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with a career-high 29 points in a barn burner against McMurry on Thursday. Despite the close loss, Edwards went 11-of-15 from the field, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and added seven boards and three steals . Junior forward Brock Luechtefeld of Southwestern led the Pirates last week, posting two games in double-figures. Luechtefeld shot just above 50 percent in both contests, scoring 16 points against Chicago and pouring in 13 points in the victory against Luther. In the Pirates first win of the season, Luechtefeld added six rebounds and four assists. Junior guard Jacob Millhouse of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of home wins at this week’s Leslie Robinson Holiday Classic, defeating both Washington & Lee University and the University of Chicago to remain unbeaten at 11-0 this season. Millhouse averaged 14.0 points per game and shot 60% (9-for-15) from the field over the two wins, despite averaging just 20.5 minutes per contest. He capped the tournament with a career-high 17 points in the win over Chicago on Thursday, hitting 6-of-8 from the field to lead the Tigers.
