TRISTAN PITKIN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a sophomore catcher from Baytown, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7

Pitkin had a monster series at the plate last weekend, leading the Celts to a series sweep over SCAC foe Austin College. He hit a remarkable .700, going 7-for-10 with three multi-hit games, scoring six runs and driving in six more runs. He smashed two doubles and one home run and finished the week with a .769 on-base percentage and 1.200 slugging percentage. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior first baseman Preston Ludwick of Centenary had a great weekend at the plate for the Diamond Gents at home versus No. 16 Trinity as he hit .500 (7-for-14) with five RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a walk. Ludwick now has 15 multi-hit games this season and five in a row, getting at least two hits in all three games of the series. Junior catcher Gerardo Cardoza of Schreiner was outstanding last weekend for the Mountaineers taking a key SCAC series over Dallas. In the 2-1 series win over the Crusaders, Cardoza hit .615, going 8-for-13 with nine RBI, six runs scored and one double. Freshman outfielder Christian Melillo of Southwestern hit .467 in four games (7-for-15), including two doubles and two home runs, driving in six RBI with five runs scored for a 1.000 slugging percentage against Trintiy. Junior short stop Joe Jimenez of Texas Lutheran was once again a force in the Bulldogs offense hitting .467 with three home runs and 10 RBI to lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated weekend. Jimenez currently ranks second in the country in home runs and first in RBI. Junior outfielder Brian Schaub of Trinity led the No. 16 Tigers to a 2-2 overall record that included winning two out of three games against Centenary last weekend. His best game came in game one of Saturday's doubleheader as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and six RBI, sparking the Tigers to two wins to clinch the series.
