SHREVEPORT, La. - Trinity University jumped out to an 11-1 lead and never trailed as the Tigers advanced to the program's fourth consecutive SCAC women's title game with a 69-54 victory over Texas Lutheran Saturday night at Centenary College's Gold Dome. Official Tournament Website
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trinity never trailed in the game, jumping out to an initial 11-1 lead and opening up a 23-14 first quarter lead.
- Trinity, the top-ranked scoring defense in the league, held Texas Lutheran, the highest-scoring offense in the league, 14 points below its season average.
- Trinity shot 43.3 percent (13-30) in the decisive first half.
- Trinity hit 52.9 percent of its three-point shots (9-17) against the stingest three-point field goal percentage defense in the league. TLU came into the game allowing opponents just 25.3 percent from distance.
- Trinity outrebounded Texas Lutheran 41-30.

- Trinity advances to the championship game for the fourth straight year. The Tigers are 1-2 in those three previous appearances but have won three conference titles (2003, 2005 and 2013)
- This was the third straight year that Trinity and Texas Lutheran have met in the SCAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Trinity now owns a 2-1 advantage in those contests.
- Texas Lutheran ends its season with a 15-12 record.
