LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In exclusive balloting by SCAC women's head basketball coaches, Trinity University was tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title in 2015-16.
The Tigers received five of eight first-place votes to tally 46 points and headline the annual poll of head coaches.
Fourth-year head coach Cameron Hill returns 12, including seven players who were featured in the staring lineup at one time or the other, from last year's squad that finished 22-6, shared the regular season title, and advanced to the SCAC championship game for the third consecutive year.
Three other teams received first-place votes, including 2013-14 champion Texas Lutheran University who was the coaches second choice with 42 points. Schreiner University (37 points) and Austin College (29 points) were tabbed third and fourth, respectively, and each earned a favorite nod from one coach.
Rounding out the remainder of the poll is the University of Dallas (24 points), defending tournament champion Southwestern University (22 points), Colorado College (17 points) and Centenary College (7 points).
Poll results were tabulated by awarding seven points for a first-place vote, six points for a second-place vote, on down to one point for a seventh-place vote. Coaches voted for order of finish 1-7, but did not rank their own team.
