LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The SCAC office today announced the bracket for the 2016 women's basketball tournament, which will be begin Friday, Feb. 26 in Shreveport, La. Tournament Bracket | Official Tournament Website

The 2016 regular season title and top seed to this year's championship came down to the last conference game of the season. After Austin College (18-7 overall) defeated the University of Dallas earlier in the day, Trinity University (20-5 overall) fell to Schreiner University on the road to force a tie atop the standings as both teams stood at 11-3 in league play.

None of the league's established tiebreakers could break the deadlock so it took a late night coin toss by the conference office to establish Trinity as the top seed with Austin settling for the No. 2 seed. Both the Tigers and 'Roos will be recognized as SCAC Co-Regular Season champions and both receive a bye into Saturday's semifinal round.

Women's quarterfinal action gets underway at 5 p.m. CT Friday afternoon on the campus of Centenary College as No. 4 seed  Texas Lutheran University (10-4 SCAC; 14-11 overall) takes on No. 5 seed Southwestern University (5-9 SCAC; 8-17 overall) in a match-up featuring the last two SCAC tournament champions. The Bulldogs won the SCAC title in 2014 and the Pirates are the defending tournament champions.

The second quarterfinal pits the No. 3 seed Schreiner University (10-4 SCAC; 12-12 overall) vs. the No. 6 seed and host Centenary College (3-11 SCAC; 9-16 overall). Schreiner earned the third seed over Texas Lutheran by virtue of its better record against the No. 2 seed, Austin College (both were 1-1 against Trinity). As the host institution, Centenary was the recipient of the sixth and final seed per the league's 5+1 postseason model.
