LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball standings continued to shuffle in week nine of the regular season with conference action heating up over the weekend.
Schreiner (3-13, 3-4) picked up a pair of home victories over Colorado College (8-10, 5-5) and Johnson & Wales (0-15, 0-10), earning back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The Mountaineers were led by sophomore center Sydney Williams scored a week-leading 24.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Williams notched a career high 24 points against CC on Friday and came back on Saturday with another 24 point performance, while adding 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Freshman guards Josline Hernandez and Alyssa Viera also contributed 12.0 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
Trinity (14-3,7-1) extended its win streak to nine after defeating Colorado College and Johnson & Wales over the weekend, securing sole possession of first place in the conference standings for the first time this season. Junior forward Abby Holland paced the Tigers averaging 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. Freshman forward Hailey Coleman was the most efficient scorer in the league this week, shooting 72.2 percent from the field (13-for-18) and sophomore guard Julia Ackerman averaged 5.5 assists per game.
Texas Lutheran (11-7, 7-2) moved back into third place in the conference standings with victories over Southwestern and Dallas (1-15, 1-7). Contributions from the bench helped lift the Bulldogs over their opponents last week, outscoring their opponents 98-11 in bench points over the two-game stretch. The TLU effort was spearheaded by sophomore guard Tara Molina who averaged 10.0 points and 5.5 points per game.
In its only game of the week, Austin College (13-3, 6-1) defeated Centenary (4-12, 2-5) 74-40. Senior forward Bryce Frank posted her 12th double-double of the season and her fourth in as many games, securing 21 points on 61.5 percent shooting (8-for-13) and grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kacie West came off the bench to score 13 points.
Southwestern (7-10, 6-2) bounced back from its loss earlier in the week finishing strong with a 43-point victory over Dallas on Saturday. Junior center Cecily Woolfolk, who drained 31 points and posted a double-double in the Pirates loss to TLU, averaged 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds on the week. Against Dallas, Woolfolk led the charge with 13 points and four rebounds while classmate Zhazze Brown tallied 12 points with two rebounds.
The SCAC women's basketball conference schedule continues on Tuesday afternoon when Southwestern welcomes Trinity and Austin College hosts Centenary.
