SEGUIN, Texas - Trinity's Abby Holland set a new SCAC tournament single-game scoring record with 38 points and the top-seeded Tigers faced down a strong challenge from fifth-seeded Colorado College to take a 65-61 victory in Saturday's first women's semifinal of the 2019 SCAC Basketball Tournament. Trinity didn't take its first lead until the 2:23 mark of the third quarter and needed all of Holland's record-setting performance to advance to tomorrow's championship game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado College led by 12 with 2:06 remaining in the first half, but a late Trinity run cut the CC lead to 30-24 at the break.
- Trinity outscored Colorado College, 21-13, in the third quarter and led 45-43 heading into the final quarter.
- CC took its final lead at 59-58 with 1:44 remaining but Holland scored the next six points to give Trinity a lead it would not relinquish.
- Only three players for Trinity had a made field goal in the game - Holland (15), Hailey Coleman (6) and Rachel Chavez (4).
- After shooting 32.3 percent in the first half, Trinity heated up to shoot 51.7 percent in the second half and finished the game at 40.3 percent (25-62).
- Colorado College shot 33.9 percent (21-62) for the game.
- Trinity forced CC into 21 turnovers and won the points off of battle, 21-9.

NOTABLES
- Holland broke the previous SCAC tournament scoring record which was set 12 years ago today by Oglethorpe's Anna Findley. Findley poured in 37 points in a quarterfinal victory over Southwestern in 2007.
- Holland also broke the single-game record for field goals made with 15, besting the 13 by former TU Tiger Tara Rhode against DePauw in the 2005 title game.
- The two battled in the semifinal round last year as Trinity beat CC on its home floor, 76-70.
- With the victory, Trinity advances to its seventh-straight SCAC title game. The Tigers are attempting to win their fourth straight tournament title - which would be a first in the modern SCAC tournament era (2003 to present).
- Over that streak, Trinity's four-point win is its tightest margin of victory in those previous semifinal appearances.
- Trinity has now won its last seven games.
- Colorado College ends its season with a 12-14 mark.
