LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- After earning championships in four of the league's eight spring sports and second-place finishes in two more, the 2018-19 SCAC Presidents' Trophy will remain in San Antonio as Trinity University captured its conference-record eighth consecutive all-sports title.
Trinity broke its own record of consecutive all-sports trophies as the program had also won seven straight Presidents' Trophy titles from 1993-94 to 1999-00 prior to its current streak. The program now owns 19 all-sports titles - the most by one institution in the 57-year history of the award.
This spring, the Texas Tigers collected titles in men's and women's tennis, women's track and field and baseball, and also placed second in women's golf and men's track and field, to assure that the 300-pound railroad bell signifying conference supremacy stays in San Antonio for yet another year.
Trinity finished with 567.5 points to edge Southwestern University, who finished with 532.5 points. The 35-point margin of victory is the closest in the race for the league's all-sports trophy since DePauw University nipped Trinity by 10 points for the 2008-09 trophy.
