Trinity's Holland Named To National Team of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Trinity University junior forward Abby Holland was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the week of November 18th, it was announced by D3hoops.com.

Holland led the Tiger women’s basketball team to a 3-0 record to start the season last week, earning a pair of key regional wins on the road against Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound.

Holland averaged 19.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during the week, hitting 47.5% (19-40) from the field and 86.4% (19-22) from the free throw line. After starting the season with 13 points and seven rebounds in a blowout win over Concordia, the junior posted a career-high 22 points twice in wins over PLU and UPS.

Against Pacific Lutheran, Holland hit 8 of 14 from the field and 6 of 7 from the free throw line, adding three rebounds and five steals. Her two free throws with six seconds left put the icing on the cake in that game, ending all hopes for a possible comeback. In Saturday’s win at Puget Sound, she was 8 of 18 from the floor and 6 of 8 from the charity stripe, adding six boards and a pair of steals. In the fourth quarter, Holland scored seven of the team’s 13 points, including five points in a span of 46 seconds to turn a one-point Tiger lead into a 56-50 margin with 1:23 to play.

Holland is the first SCAC women's student-athlete to earn D3hoops.com National TOTW recognition since Trinity's Micah Weaver was recognized in Week 7 of the 2017-18 season.

The D3hoops.com Team of the Week recognizes five players -- two backcourt and three frontcourt players -- each week. To see the full D3hoops.com Team of the Week, click here.
