LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball play picked up over the holiday break with 18 contests counting towards the conference standings.
No. 25 Austin College (11-2, 4-0) opened up conference competition earning four victories over Trinity, Dallas, Johnson & Wales and Colorado College. During the stretch, the Roos' were led by senior forward Bryce Frank who averaged 18.0 point, 8.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Sophomore guard Kacie West came off the bench contributing 11.6 points, while senior guard Ann Savage dished out 4.6 assists per game. In their final contest of 2018, the Roos' fell to No. 12 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Despite the loss to Austin College to open up conference play, Trinity (10-3, 3-1) went on to defeat Centenary, Dallas and Texas Lutheran as well as non-conference opponents Hendrix and Louisiana College, for a 5-1 mark over the holiday. Junior forward Abby Holland spearheaded the Tiger effort averaging 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Hailey Coleman hit 62.8 percent of her field goals (27-for-43) while sophomore guard Julia Ackerman averaged 4.3 assists per game.
Texas Lutheran (8-6, 4-1) earned conference victories over Schreiner and Centenary but suffered its first conference loss at the hands of Trinity to finish the week. Freshman forward Morgan Rodriguez averaged 10.0 points per game for the Bulldogs while sophomore guard Tara Molina led the league this week in assists (5.3) and steals (3.0) per game.
Colorado College (8-8, 5-2) played to a 3-1 record over the break with victories over Dallas, Schreiner and Centenary while falling to Austin College. The Tigers were led by sophomore guard McKenzee Gertz who averaged a double-double with 12.8 points per game and a week-leading 10.5 rebounds.
Southwestern (4-9, 3-1) rang in the new year with a pair of conference wins over Centenary and Schreiner. Junior guard Zhazze Brown and sophomore guard Noel Pratts both averaged 11.0 points per game for the Pirates.
Centenary (4-10, 2-4) picked up wins over Dallas and Johnson & Wales. The Ladies were paced by sophomore Bre Frierson who averaged 14.7 points per game and led the league in field goal percentage shooting 70.4 (38-for-54).
Schreiner (1-12, 1-3) and Dallas (1-11, 1-4) both earned their first victories of the season against Johnson & Wales.
SCAC conference play continues on Tuesday when Schreiner hosts Texas Lutheran.
