LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- In week 11 of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball schedule, three teams clinched berths to the conference tournament: Austin College, Texas Lutheran and Trinity
Trinity (18-4, 11-2) shuffled back into first-place in the conference standings defeating Schreiner, Austin College and Centenary (5-15, 3-8). The Tigers, who hosted all three contests, were led by junior forward Abby Holland who posted 22.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game. Holland was also incredibly efficient for Trinity, shooting a week-leading 65.0 percent (26-for-40). The junior also led the league this week in points and steals per game.
Texas Lutheran (14-7,10-6) also went undefeated last week downing Johnson & Wales (2-17, 1-12) and Colorado College. Sophomore guard Tara Molina paced the Bulldogs balanced attack collecting 10.0 points and 3.5 assists per game. Sophomore Kasey Hairell and senior Bryanna Delgado also contributed 9.0 and 8.0 points per game, respectively. Against CC on Saturday, TLU played stellar defensively holding the Tigers to 39 points, their lowest scoring performance since 2016.
Austin College (17-4, 10-2) went 2-1 on the week with victories over Dallas and Schreiner. Senior forward Bryce Frank averaged a double-double for the fourth consecutive week with 19.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Frank's double-double performances continue to grow with 17 so far this season, including nine straight, and 50 for her career -- the second most by any SCAC women's basketball player since the conference began tracking the stat in the 2001-02 season. The senior is currently on pace to break the single-season double-double record of 20 held by Krista Prato Matthews of Trinity (2008-09) as well as the career mark of 52 owned by former Roos' standout Katy Williams.
Three programs also earned a conference win this week. On Friday Schreiner (4-17, 4-8) picked up a 62-58 victory over Centenary, and Colorado College (10-11, 7-6) downed Southwestern 77-67. CC produced two 20-point scorers against the Pirates with sophomore guard McKenzee Gertz draining 24 and senior guard Casey Torbet adding 22. The next day, Southwestern (8-12, 7-4) came back to defeat Johnson & Wales 60-46.
In non-conference action Dallas (2-18, 1-10) scored 51 points in its victory over Southwestern Adventist.
The SCAC women's basketball conference schedule continues on Tuesday when Southwestern heads to Schreiner and Dallas hosts Centenary.
