Austin College Women Coast Past Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's basketball team got 21 points and 12 rebounds from Bryce Frank and shot 51.8% from the field and 42.1% from long distance on their way to a 74-40 road victory at Centenary. The 'Roos are now 13-3 overall and 6-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College used a dominant first quarter to set the tone, out-scoring the Ladies 20-6 in the first frame. The momentum carried into the second quarter as the 'Roos went on top 25-8 on a three by Caitlyn Collins two minutes into the period. With 1:19 left before halftime, Centenary made it a 36-18 game but Austin College scored eight unanswered to close out the quarter, with Reagan Chiaverini and Kacie West each knocking down a triple to make it 44-18 at the break.

Frank hit 8-of-13 shots to get her 21 points and notched her 12th double-double of the season in the win, while also coming away with three steals and handing out a pair of assists. West was the only other 'Roo to reach double-digits, scoring 13 points off the bench as 11 different players scored in the win. Chiaverini scored eight points, while Natalie McCoy and Addison Walling each chipped in seven. Walling and Ann Savage each had four assists, and Andrea Selkow pulled down nine rebounds coming off the bench. The 'Roos held Centenary to just 30% shooting from the field, including a 2-of-16 performance from long distance.

Austin College will take on Centenary again on Tuesday, this time at home in Hughey Gym with tip-time set for 6:00 p.m.
