Men's XC Recap (Week 2) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the eight SCAC men’s cross country teams were in action this past weekend.

Austin College
The Austin College men competed for the first time in school history at the Texas-Tyler Invitational. The men did not have a qualifying score with only four runners competing. Chris Burke had the time, finished 17:36.66 for 22nd while Octavio Zarraga had the next best time at 19:14.29. The men will be back in action the following week as they compete in the Gerald Ritchey Invitational at Texas-Arlington. 

Centenary College
The Centenary Gents opened their season up at the Texas-Tyler Invitational with a 9th place finish. Gregory Simmons was the top runner with a time of 22:07.76 while Arash Ataei finsihed with a time of 22:47.50. Kellen Bullock and Josephy Riley rounded out the Gents with times around 24 minutes. Centenary will return to action next weekend as they compete in the Lois David Invitational on the campus of Southern Arkansas.

Schreiner University
The Mountaineers took home a fourth place finished at the Texas Lutheran Invite. Kevin Perez led the way with a 14th place finish and a time of 18:47 while Ricky Canales added an 18th place finish and a time of 20:00. Ver Schuur was 20th place finish with a time of 20:27. Schreiner will take a couple weekends off, but will be back in action on September 27th as they compete in the Hardin-Simmons Stampede Invitational. 

Southwestern University
The Pirate men returned to the course as they competed in the Texas Lutheran Invite, securing a third place finish. Alex Medrano had another great finish this weekend, this time placing ninth (top DIII finish) with a time of 17:38.99. Kyle Bauernschmitt was next with a time of 19:30.33 followed by Alex Riggs. The Pirates will take some time off the next two weekends, but will be back in action on September 27th as they compete at the Hardin-Simmons Stampede on September 27th.

Texas Lutheran University
The Bulldogs competed in front of their home crowd on Saturday morning, taking a second place finish at the Texas Lutheran Invite and finishing first among Division III schools. Donal Manuszewski was the top finisher for the men, posting a time of 17:54.50 whie Travis Koenig was right behind Manuszewski with a time of 17:57.63. The Bulldogs will take a week off and return to action on Septemeber 19th at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic.

Colorado College, Dallas, and Trinity did not compete this weekend.
