Women's XC Recap (Week 7) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the eight SCAC women's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.

Austin College
The Austin College women finished an impressive third out of nine participating squads at the inaugural East Texas Baptist University Invitational this past Saturday in Marshall, Texas. Alex Quinn paced the 'Roos over the 6K course with a 16th place finish in a time of 27:01.21. Eden Llamas (27:41.87 - 20th), Sally Humphries (27:55.48 - 22nd) and Hailee Meiners (28:34.92 - 25th) all posted top 25 finishes in the 73-participant field. The 'Roos return to action next Saturday when they host the Austin College Invite (Oct. 18).  

University of Dallas
The University of Dallas cross country team finished second among nine women's teams at the East Texas Baptist University Invitational Saturday in Marshall, Texas. The Crusaders, who placed three runners in the top 10, were just 16 points behind the winning UT-Tyler squad at Saturday's 6k event. Clare Myers (25:12.68) and Ruth Fritz (25:28.37) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to pace the UD attack, while Danielle Pajak (26:30.43) was 10th in the 73-participant field. Colleen Slattery (26:54.28 - 15th) and Meghan Falconer (27:05.53 - 17th) posted top 20 finishes. Next up for the Crusaders is a visit to SCAC member Austin College and Sherman, Texas for the Austin College Invite on Oct. 18.

Southwestern University
In its deepest competition of the season, the Southwestern University women ran a tough race in its second to last regular season meet at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational. To lead the women in their 11th-place finish, Emily Boujemaa posted a time of 27:19.1 in the 6k race for 87th place. Brianna Timourian was close behind in 94th place with a time of 27:40.0 and Danielle King in 98th place in 27:54.3. Valerie Vacek posted a 115th place finish running in a time of 29:55.5 and Tori McGraw rounded out the women's outing with a 126th place finish in 32:41.0. Southwestern closes the regular season at the Concordia Invitational on October 18th in Cedar Park, Texas.

Trinity University
The Trinity University women’s cross country team placed second among non-Division I teams Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational. Trinity’s women scored 62 points in the 13-team non-Division I 6k meet held at soggy Live Oak City Park. The Tigers were just seven points behind first-place Texas Wesleyan University. Tiger women’s senior Nicola Hill finished 18th overall, and sixth in the non-Division I pool, clocking in at 24:07.3. First-year runner Melissa Whitman came in at No. 25 in the overall standings, and eighth among non-Division I competitors, with a time of 24:22.4. Senior Michelle Oberndorf placed 38th overall, and 14th in the non-DI, at 25:00.2. The Trinity women will compete next Saturday at the Concordia University Invitational at Cedar Park, Texas.

Centenary College, Colorado College, Schreiner University, and Texas Lutheran University did not compete this weekend.
