LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the eight SCAC women's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.
Austin College
The Austin College women competed at the UTA Gerald Richey XC Invite in Arlington, Texas this past weekend. The 'Roos finished sixth overall out of seven teams led by Alex Quinn with a 28th place finish and a time of 21:16. Eden Llamas followed her up with a 32nd place finish with a time of 22:14 while Sall Humphries finished 34th with a time of 22:24. The 'Roos will return to action in two weeks as they compete in the HSU Stampede Invitational.
Centenary College
The Centenary Ladies competed at the Lois Davis Invitational in Magnolia, Ark., finishing ninth on the day. Catherine Shackelford led with a time of 25:12 on the women's side to finish 47th overall. Christy Wolterman finished a second behind Shackelford with a time of 25:13 in 48th place. Kayla Thornhill, Brittany Wagner and Heather Wilson rounded out the Ladies squad. Thornhill was 53rd (26:51) with Wagner in 54th (28:02). Wilson was 55th with a time of 33:24. Centenary returns to the course next weekend at the Mook 5 hosted by Louisiana Tech.
Colorado College
The Colorado College women's cross country team opened its 2014 season Saturday with a fourth-place finish at the Rust Buster Invitational, hosted by UCCS. Sophomore Abigail Philbrick paced the Tigers with a 12th place finish with a time of 16 minutes and 33 seconds in the 4K race at North Monument Valley Park. Running in her first collegiate competition, freshmanPatty Atkinson ran an impressive 17:05 to finish 22nd. CC's trio of sophomoreLiz Waterman (17:42) and freshmen Corey Luna (17:44) and Kelsey Maxwell (17:54) finished 26th, 27th, and 28th, respectively. The Tigers host the CC Invitational at North Monument Valley Park next weekend.
University of Dallas
The University of Dallas finished fourth out of seven teams at the UTA Gerald Richey XC Invite in Arlington, Texas. Clare Myers placed 20th overall with a time of 19:37 while Ruth Fritz added a time of 20:37. Colleen Slattery was 24th with a time of 20:48 while Danielle Pajak (20:54) and Meghan Falconer (21:02) finished 26th and 27th. The Crusaders return to action next weekend as they compete in the East Texas Invite in New Summerfield, Texas.
Schreiner, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran, and Trinity did not compete this weekend.
