LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the eight SCAC women's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.
Austin College
The 'Roos women's cross country team had a strong showing on
Saturday at the Hardin-Simmons Stampede, finishing fourth out of
eight teams with four runners finishing in the top 25. Eden
Llamas paced the 'Roos with a time of 20:36.05, good for 16th
place. Sally Kate Humphries placed 19th at the meet with a
time of 21:01.17, and Alex Quinn and Hailee
Meiners finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. The 'Roos
will take two weekends off and return to action on October 11th at
the East Texas Baptist Invitational.
Colorado
College
Led by a pair of top 15 individual finishes, the Colorado
College women's cross country team finished in third place in the
College Division of the Cowboy Jamboree Saturday in Stillwater,
Okla. Sophomore Leah Wessler and senior Rebecca
Lavietes finished fifth and 13th,
respectively, for the Tigers. Wessler posted a 5k time
of 19 minutes, 22.91 seconds, while Lavietes finished in
19:51.35. The Tigers will split the team next weekend
and compete at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (Claremont, Calif.)
and the Metro State Invitational (Denver,
Colo.).
Schreiner University
The Schreiner University women's cross country team
placed seventh this past weekend as the Hardin-Simmons Stampede.
Adriana Mercado led the way with a 39th place finish and a time of
22:52.12. She was followed by Miranda Reagan with a time of
22:57.02 and a 41st place finish and Alexis Nyquist with a 24:38.88
finish and a 47th place finish. The Mountaineers will take a week
off, but return to action on October 11th as teh Incarnate Word
Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
Southwestern University
Emily Boujemaa continued her outstanding first
season with the Southwestern University women's cross country team
racing to an 9th place finish at the Hardin-Simmons Stampede at Sea
Bee Park. Danielle King helped the Pirates with a
21st place finish as she crossed the finish line with a time of
21:08.13. Close behind King was teammate Brianna
Timourian finishing with a time of 21:27.03 to lead the
Pirates to a fifth place finish. Southwestern takes a
week off before heading south to the Incarnate Word Invitational in
San Antonio October 11.
Texas Lutheran University
The Texas Lutheran Women's Cross Country competed Saturday
with four runners in the 34th Annual Codfish Bowl
Women's Cross Country Race. Sarah Fritzsche was
the top Bulldog, finishing the course in 20 minutes, 51 seconds.
Fritzsche was 28th overall.
Jasmine Medrano was close behind Fritzsche.
Medrano registered a time of 21:02 and came home in
32nd. The Bulldogs will return home this
upcoming weekend as they host the Texas Lutheran Inviate.
Centenary, Dallas, and Trinity did not compete this weekend.
