The game featured five lead changes in the final three minutes and, after Southwestern's Naomi Brown hit a running left-hander in the lane to give the Pirates the lead, Colorado College had one last look with 11 seconds remaining. However, after a timeout and with the clock winding down, a contested layup by Anna Faneli rolled off the rim and the buzzer sounded before a putback could be attempted.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After two McKenzee Gertz free throws, Colorado College led by seven (61-54) with 6:20 remaining. From there, Southwestern outscored CC 20-12 to pull out the victory.
  • Gertz's heavily contested baseline jumper with 17 seconds remaining gave CC the lead at 73-72, but Southwestern's Brown took an entry pass at the block and spun for a left-handed scoop layup that allowed the Pirates to regain the lead at 74-73.
  • In a game that was physical and played largely in the paint, both teams played the second half with several players in foul trouble.
