In this, the third year of the event, SCAC Assistant Commissioner Katie Mucci (@katiemucci) and Sports Information and Multimedia Assistant Blake Childers (@SCAC_BChilders) will visit each of the eight campuses of the conference over the course of 10 days.
This year's tour will be promoted via the conference's Twitter (@SCAC_Sports), Instagram (@SCAC_Sports) and Snapchat (scacsports) accounts. You can also follow the progress of the tour by using the hashtag #SCAC8in8.
Additionally, the SCAC will again enlist the assistance of a student-athlete representative from each campus to shoot video and take pictures, which will be posted on the conference's Instagram and YouTube accounts as well as an original video from the conference representatives.
Limited edition #SCAC8in8 prizes will be given out by student reps who will be asking SCAC- and institution-based trivia questions throughout the campus visit.
On Wednesday, Blake and Katie were on the Texas Lutheran campus and received tours from student ambassadors, Caitlin Rendon, a junior women's basketball player, and Jacque Beck, a junior women's soccer player. After the tours, Blake interviewed campus celebrity and TLU executive chef Ernest Servantes. In 2012, Servantes was that season's winner of the Food Network's reality series Chopped Grill Masters. That evening, Blake and Katie settled in for some soccer under the lights as the Texas Lutheran women hosted Southwestern University in an early-season conference matchup that also represented the first night game ever played at Gustafson Field. The evenly played match ended in a 0-0 draw. (Game recap)
David Ching, sophomore midfielder on the Bulldog's men's soccer team, and Blake Westbrook, a sophomore student-athlete on the men's cross country team, served as TLU's student-reps on the 2015 #SCAC8in8 tour stop. The two provided a behind scenes glimpse of student life at TLU as well as some fun fan footage at Wednesday's nights historic first game under the lights at Gustafson Field.
