In this, the third year of the event, SCAC Assistant Commissioner Katie Mucci (@katiemucci) and Sports Information and Multimedia Assistant Blake Childers (@SCAC_BChilders) will visit each of the eight campuses of the conference over the course of 10 days.
This year's tour will be promoted via the conference's Twitter (@SCAC_Sports), Instagram (@SCAC_Sports) and Snapchat (scacsports) accounts. You can also follow the progress of the tour by using the hashtag #SCAC8in8.
Additionally, the SCAC will again enlist the assistance of a student-athlete representative from each campus to shoot video and take pictures, which will be posted on the conference's Instagram and YouTube accounts as well as an original video from the conference representatives.
Limited edition #SCAC8in8 prizes will be given out by student reps who will be asking SCAC- and institution-based trivia questions throughout the campus visit.
On Friday, Blake and Katie received a campus tour from senior India West, a student ambassador at Southwestern. The tour of the state's oldest University (founded in 1840) included a ride on one of the famous yellow Pirate bikes and an explanation of the institution's signature Paideia academic philosophy. After the tour, Blake and Katie sampled the local fare at some of Georgetown's finest eating establishments. Click here to view the video if it does not appear below.
Back on campus, the focus turned to the volleyball court as the Pirates improved to 3-0 on the young season after sweeping a pair of matches from University of Texas-Dallas (3-2) and Millsaps College (3-0). (UT-Dallas recap) (Millsaps recap)
Three student-athletes served as the student-reps for the the 2015 #SCAC8in8 tour stop at Southwestern. Marissa Irvin, a junior softball student-athlete, Shine Trabucco, a first-year track and field student-athlete, and Sebastian Gualy, a junior lacrosse student-athlete, gave us an inside look at dorm life on the SU campus in addition to firing up the student-section inside Corbin J. Robertson Center as the Pirate volleyball team took the court. Click here to view the video if it does not appear below.
Following another late night drive - this time to Kerrville, Blake and Katie will be on the campus of Schreiner University on Saturday to try and help decide - once and for all - who has the best breakfast tacos in town and to watch the men's and women's soccer teams take on East Texas Baptist University.
