Tyler Herrera, Centenary College, Pitcher of the Week (Week 3)

TYLER HERRERA OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a first-year right-handed pitcher from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 21 through Sunday, February 27. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 3

Herrera pitched the final four innings of the Gents' 9-7 loss at La Verne on Sunday - his longest outing of the season. The freshman twirler struck out three, walked one, and allowed just one hit, throwing 32 of 49 pitches for strikes while facing 14 batters as he kept the Leopards off the scoreboard. Herrera has yet to allow a run in seven innings this season, scattering two hits with nine strikeouts.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore righthander Joseph Chavana of Trinity played a crucial role in keeping the Babson bats at bay in the Tigers' 12-11 victory over the Beavers on Saturday. After a rocky start for the Trinity staff, Chavana took on the long-relief role for 6.1 innings, allowing just three earned runs to keep Babson out of range for its ninth-inning comeback attempt.
