APOLLO CASSIMATIS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a first-year right-handed pitcher from Plano, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 5 through Sunday, February 13. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 1
Cassimatis had a hand in both of the Mountaineers' victories this weekend, picking up a save on Friday and a win on Saturday, as Schreiner took two of three from Stevenson University to open the 2022 campaign.
He got the final out of the game on Saturday, striking out the only batter he faced, to preserve the 9-8 victory and then mowed down eight Stevenson hitters the following day in his first collegiate start, scattering seen hits while allowing just two earned runs in 5.2 innings to pick up the victory.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior right-hander Peyton Thibodeaux of Centenary made his season debut on Monday at home against ETBU and pitched four impressive innings, allowing just three hits and an unearned run with no walks and a pair of strikeouts against one of the country's top hitting teams. He then went two innings in relief in Centenary's 15-4 blowout over MUW in the Millsaps Baseball Classic on Saturday, allowing just a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout.
