SETH THOMAS OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore forward from Kilgore, Texas, has been named SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Friday, January 22 through Saturday, January 23.
Thomas led the Gents in a road sweep of Schreiner over the weekend. He posted a double-double on Friday, recording a career-high 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds as the Gents earned the 79-75 victory. On Saturday, Thomas had 17 points and 13 rebounds in 28 minutes of action for his second double-double of the weekend as Centenary took the 70-67 victory.
Thomas’ 13 rebounds established a new career high, breaking his previous mark of 12 from the previous evening.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
First-year forward Adam Kanafani of St. Thomas led the Celts in a weekend sweep over Dallas, averaging 17.0 points per game in 19.5 minutes. In Friday’s 80-77 win, Kanafani posted 13 points and four rebounds in 19 minutes. In Saturday’s 101-81 win over Dallas Kanafani set a career-high withh 21 points and added eight rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Sophomore forward Enzo Sechi of Trinity, led the Tigers in a weekend sweep over Colorado College. On Saturday, Sechi helped Trinity control the game with a career-high 19 points and averaged 16.0 points per game over the weekend. Senior forward Michael Holland of Austin College, averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, in the ‘Roos weekend split against Southwestern. Senior guard Dustin Mathis of Dallas, led the Crusaders with a career-high 29 points on Saturday against St. Thomas. Junior forward Will Nisbet of Colorado College, posted a career-high 15 points and fi ve rebounds in his first career start on Friday. He added fi ve points and a pair of rebounds on Saturday. Junior guard Kyle Poerschke of Southwestern, averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds, highlighted by his 18 points in 22 minutes in the Pirates’ 81-69 win over Austin College on Friday.
