HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a scoreless opening 25 minutes that saw the Tigers take the first 12 shots of the game, it was senior Kaity Ward that found the back of the net for her 17th goal of the season to give Trinity a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.
  • Trinity would finish the half with a 20-2 advantage in shots, but eight opening half saves from Southwestern’s Johnna Campbell kept the Tiger lead to just 1-0 going into the break.
  • Just over five minutes into the second frame, Trinity doubled its lead when Emma Everts, among a mass of bodies in the box, was able to find the ball and slot home her third of the season off an assist from Ashlyn Zingelmann.
  • Less than five minutes later, Everts collected an assist when she found Molly Sheridan for her 12th goal of the season to give Trinity a 3-0 lead.
  • Trinity put an exclamation mark on the victory when the Tigers scored twice in the final six minutes as Michaela Bosco registered her seventh of the season in the 85th minute and then Taylor Campbell rang home the fifth and final goal in the 90th minute. Madison Horner and Abby Schneider were credited with the assists on the two tallies.
  • Trinity outshot Southwestern, 33-6, including a 17-2 edge in shots on goal. Each team attempted four corner kicks.
