Hendrix's Tate Breaks SCAC Single-Game Rebound Record With 29 Against Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas – Sophomore forward Jamie Tate pulled down a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and school record 29 rebounds as Hendrix College rolled to a 68-37 victory at Austin College on Sunday afternoon.

The Nashville, Tenn. native broke the league mark of 28 held by Jennifer Warren of Trinity since Dec. 7, 1994 and Christina Byler's Warrior record of 25 set Jan. 31, 2010.

The Warriors (4-9, 3-2) came out on fire and built up a 31-10 lead over the first 14:02 of the contest. After shooting 41 percent (14-of-34) and outrebounding Austin (1-13, 1-4) 29-14 in the half, Hendrix took a 36-20 lead into the break. Tate pulled down 15 boards, including six offensive in the opening period.

Tate added 15 more rebounds in the second half, including eight on the offensive end, for the record mark. She also scored 10 points to go with three assists and two steals for her eight consecutive double-double.

Senior guard Anna Roane led all scorers with 17 points, making four three-pointers. Freshman guard Lindsay Drillette came off the bench to score seven points and senior guard Katy Ashley-Pauley had seven points and three assists.

Angeleena Young led the Kangaroos with 12 points and Christina Kime scored 11.

For the game, the Warriors shot 37 percent (25-of-67) from the field and made 11 three-pointers. The Roos shot 24.5 percent (13-of-53) and were 3-of-20 from beyond the arc. Hendrix outrebounded Austin 57-32.

Hendrix will return home on Friday for a SCAC game against Sewanee.
