LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Six of the seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball teams competed this weekend with two more clinching their spots in the 2017 SCAC Softball Tournament.
Texas Lutheran University (30-4, 18-0 SCAC) continued the winning streak, moving to 30 straight games with a series sweep of the University of Dallas 9-23, 4-12 SCAC). In the second game, TLU pitcher Maitlin Raycroft collected her seventh no-hitter of the season. This extends her NCAA Division III single-season record.
Southwestern University (18-10, 11-3 SCAC) won 3-of-4 against Centenary College (11-19, 8-8 SCAC), earning a trip to Seguin for the conference tournament. Despite only picking up one win this weekend, the Ladies of Centenary also earned their spot in the postseason.
Trinity University (13-19, 5-11 SCAC) earned the series win over Austin College on the road, moving to fifth in the league standings.
With two weeks remaining, Trinity, Dallas and Austin College continue to battle for the final two spots in the conference tournament.
