SEGUIN, Texas -- Sixth-seeded Trinity University scored four runs in the first two innings and never trailed as the Tigers defeated third-seeded Centenary College 7-3 in the second game of the 2017 SCAC Softball Tournament. Official Website l Bracket Postgame Interview

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trinity out-hit Centenary 13-5.
  • The Tigers plated two runs in the first and two runs in the second and never trailed.
  • Centenary cut the lead to 4-3 and had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but Trinity's Katie Castillon closed out the inning and the game for her second save of the season.
  • Trinity scored three runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.

  • This marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools in SCAC Tournament action.
  • Trinity has won its first SCAC tournament game for nine consecutive years.
  • Katie Glomb improved to 7-14 with the victory.
  • The three RBIs by Danielle Ruiz tie her single-game high for the season. She also had three against Austin College on April 9.

The Tigers will move on to face second-seeded Southwestern University later today with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Meanwhile, the Ladies will move into an elimination game against the loser of Texas Lutheran and Schreiner at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
