BLAINE TEW OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior right handed pitcher from Denison, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, April 12th.
Tew tossed a gem against Schreiner to help the 'Roos take two out of three in the weekend series. Thanks in large part to a dominant pitching performance from Tew, the 'Roos won 10-1 in the final game of the series with the senior right hander throwing a complete game and allowing just one run.
Tew went 9.0 innings and scattered just four hits while striking out eight batters in the victory.
For the season, Tew has a ERA of 4.08 in 46.1 innings pitched. He has 21 strikeouts on the season to only eight walks and currently has a record of 2-4 in seven starts and appearances.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman pitcher Kaleb Kirk of Centenary saw action in a pair of contests over the week and registered a pair of wins on the mound. The freshman tallied a team-leading 10.2 frames on the bump and held opponents to a .233 batting average with a 0.84 ERA. Senior pitcher Aaron Aleman of Texas Lutheran tossed his fourth complete game of the year and third in SCAC play and helped lead the Bulldogs to a 6-3 win in the series opener against Southwestern. Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
