JAKE McFARLAND OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior left handed pitcher from Osage City, Kan., has been selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 30th through Sunday, April 5th.
McFarland was terrific on the mound as he was instrumental in a 1-0 victory over the University of Dallas in Friday's second game of a doubleheader against the Crusaders. Centenary swept the three-game weekend series and has now won nine straight SCAC games.
McFarland posted a career-high outing with a new best in innings pitched with eight and strikeouts with eight, holding the Crusaders to only four hits and only walking one batter. Dallas managed just a .143 batting average at the plate.
McFarland is now 4-1 overall with a 2.80 ERA in 35.1 innings pitched. He has struck out 22 batters and only allowed five walks in seven starts so far this season. His four wins place him fifth in the SCAC while his ERA is sixth overall.
