AARON
ALEMAN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a
senior right handed pitcher from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played
through Sunday, February 15th.
Aleman led the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a
win over Louisiana College this past weekend, earning his second
win of the season.
Aleman was terrific, going the distance for
a complete game, allowing on one earned run on four hits while
striking out nine batter and only walking one in a 3-1 victory over
the Wildcats.
Aleman's performance was key to Texas Lutheran
going 2-2 over the weekend and moving their overall record to 5-3
on the young season.
For the season, Aleman is now 2-0 on the season with a SCAC-leading 19 strikeouts while holding batters to a .115 batting average.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore
pitcher Brett Moody of Austin College was outstanding
in a no-decision, striking out seven batters against just one walk
with a 1.13 ERA in 8.0 innings of work against Arlington Baptist in
his first start of the year. His opponents hit just .188 against
him. Freshman pitcher
Jayme Kidder of Schreiner pitched 8.0 innings, gave up
three hits and struck out six in a no decision vs. Ozarks. Freshman pitcher Riley Wayland
of Southwestern allowed no runs on one hit with seven
strikeouts and no walks. Posted a 0.00 ERA and .063 opponent
batting average against Concordia University. Senior pitcher Zack Speer of
Trinity struck out 11 batters over seven innings of
work, allowing just two runs on four hits to remain unbeaten on the
year. Centenary and Dallas did not
nomiante anyone.
