AARON ALEMAN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior right handed pitcher from Corpus Christi, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, March 29th.
Aleman dominated, yet again, earning his second straight complete game shutout, this time coming against the University of Dallas.
Aleman allowed just five hits and a walk, striking out eight Crusaders. It was also the second straight game Aleman didn't allow a runner past second base for the entire game. He now has a streak of 19.2 innings pitched without allowing a run.
Aleman leads the conference in games started (9), wins (5), complete games (3), and shutouts (2) and is also the leader in strikeouts with 57 in 60.0 innings of work. He is second in the SCAC with a 1.50 ERA.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman pitcher Collin Buckley of Southwestern made two appearances and allowed just one earned run and five hits in eight innings. He struck out two and walked none with a 1.12 ERA. Junior pitcher Ryan Gray of Trinity was 1-0 with a save in his only two appearances last week, having a hand in both of Trinity's wins during a 2-2 week overall. Gray allowed one run on five hits over his 9.0 innings pitched, striking out 14 batters and walking just two. Austin College, Dallas, and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
