BRETT MOODY OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a sophomore right handed pitcher from Allen, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, March 15th.
Moody earned the 'Roos their first SCAC win of the season as he pitched a gem to salvage the series against Texas Lutheran this past weekend.
Moody tossed a complete game against one of the conferences top offenses, allowing only one run, unearned, on seven hits to go with four strikeouts and one walk.
For the season, Moody is now 1-0 with an ERA of 0.53 in 17.0 innings pitched. In his only other start this season, he threw 8.0 innings, allowing only one earned run, in a no decision effort against Arlington Baptist.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Trevor Keele of Dallas closed out the final two games, to help Dallas win a pair of contests at Schreiner and claim the first SCAC-series of the campaign. Both decisions credited the right-hander with saves in the two-run differential contests. Freshman pitcher Gunner Vaught of Southwestern allowed just one unearned run and two hits. Senior pitcher Aaron Aleman of Texas Lutheran gave up just one earned run on four hits in 6.2 innings of work and lowered his ERA to 2.14 on the year, the fourth lowest in the conference. Senior pitcher Zack Speer of Trinity scattered eight hits over 8.0 innings of work, striking out six batters without issuing a walk, and allowing just two runs in the first SCAC game of the 2015 season. Centenary and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
