Three-Peat; Rhodes Women win 2010 SCAC Track & Field Championship

CONWAY, Ark. - Rhodes College earned its third consecutive conference title at the 2010 SCAC Women's Track & Field Championships Saturday afternoon on the campus of Hendrix College. The Lynx are the first women's program to win three consecutive SCAC Track & Field Championshps since Sewanee accomplished the task in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Samantha Specht led the Lynx with individual titles in the triple jump, long jump and 200 meters and finished fourth in the 400 meters to total 40 points and earn 2010 SCAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors.

Rhodes finished with 228.5 team points, 39 points more than second-place DePauw University, who finished with 189.5 points.

Centre College finished third with 108.5 points and Trinity University was fourth with 79 points. The host school, Hendrix College, finished fifth with 76 points.

Millsaps College, in its first year of sponsoring the sport, finished sixth with 33 points and Sewanee was seventh with 24 points. Colorado College came in eighth with 18.5 points, Southwestern University was ninth with 13 points and Oglethorpe University finished 10th with nine points.
