Trinity's Grossman and Garcia Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University Tigers senior forward Ben Grossman and sophomore midfielder Zach Garcia were elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III Men's All-America Team.

Grossman, from Encinitas, Calif. (La Costa Canyon); and Garcia, from Dallas (Lake Highlands); made the All-America Second Team. Both Tigers were also selected for the NSCAA All-West Region First Team, and the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team.

In addition, Grossman was voted the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year. Grossman was third in the SCAC with 32 points this season, scoring 14 goals and recording four assists. He tied for the SCAC lead with 14 goals, and also led the conference with six game-winning goals.

Garcia, a defensive midfielder, was a key component in stopping opponents' attacks. The Tigers yielded only 12 goals in 19 games, while scoring 42.

The Tigers, led by 19th-year head coach Paul McGinlay, completed the campaign with a 15-2-2 record, and a No. 16 national ranking. Coach McGinlay earned his 11th SCAC Coach of the Year award, securing the honor for the fifth consecutive season. Trinity won its eighth straight conference title, with a 10-0-0 record. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the eighth consecutive time, but were upset in the second round by Hardin-Simmons.
