SEWANEE, Tenn. - Veteran Sewanee women's tennis coach Conchie Shackelford recorded her 400th career win on Saturday with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Agnes Scott College. Shackelford's career record is 400-150 (.727) in her 24th season, making her the winningest coach in Sewanee athletics history. Shackelford has coached 27 All-Americans, the 1993 ITA national doubles champions, nine top-10 teams, and has won six conference championships (four WIAC, two SCAC).

"Winning 400 matches is a truly remarkable accomplishment and places Conchie in a very select group of head coaches.," added Sewanee athletic director Mark Webb. "The winning tradition that she has established with our scholar-athletes exemplifies the very best in Sewanee athletics."

On Saturday, the Tigers started out with a 3-0 lead after the doubles round, including a come-from-behind win at #2 for Devin Tellatin (St. Louis, Mo., Ladue) and Michelle Flume (San Antonio, Texas, St. Mary's Hall). In Singles, the Tigers were a perfect 6-0, with Meredith Lawrence (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall) and Kathleen Catherall (Nashville, Tenn., Harpeth Hall) picking up exhibition wins at # 7 and #8, also.

The Tigers are 2-2 so far in 2010 and will host SCAC foe Oglethorpe on Sunday.
