Trinity University's Soto and Murphy Earn SCAC Runner-of-the-Week Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Trinity University runners Chris Soto and Maddie Murphy have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male and Female Runners-of-the-Week, respectively, for Week Four of the 2013 SCAC Cross Country season.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Meets through Saturday, September 21

CHRIS SOTO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from El Paso, Texas has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, September 21.

Running against Division I competition for the second time in as many meets this season, Soto turned in a solid performance to lead the Tiger men's team to a win in the non-Division I standings at the UTSA/Ricardo Romo Classic on Friday night.

Soto was fifth among non-Division I men's runners in the evening race, and he finished 18th overall with a time of 16:49.5 in the 5K event.



SCAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Meets through Saturday, September 21

MADDIE MURPHY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Friendswood, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, September 21.

Murphy took the individual title among non-Division I runners at the UTSA/Ricardo Romo Classic on Friday evening, and also led Trinity's women to a team victory for the second time in as many races this season.

Despite running against Division I competition, Murphy was fifth overall 18:31.3 in the 5K race.  Her closest competition among non-Division I runners finished 30 seconds behind her, as she took the victory.
